Why Awlcraft 3000

Built for Professional Results

The next generation of Awlcraft 2000 — same proven base resin, same mix ratio, same spray equipment. Now with a significantly upgraded color platform that produces truer, deeper colors across an expanded palette.

Need help with color or product selection? The Fiberglass Florida team knows the Awlgrip system inside and out. We can assist with color matching, primer compatibility, reducer selection, and application troubleshooting — before and after your purchase.

AkzoNobel YSC Color Platform

The same advanced toner system used in Awlgrip HDT. Delivers truer, deeper, more vibrant colors than Awlcraft 2000 — and an expanded palette with colors not previously available in the 2000 line.

Deep, Durable High Gloss

Premium high-gloss finish with exceptional clarity on boat hulls, topsides, and superstructures. Holds gloss across a wide range of climates — including Florida's heat and humidity.

Buffable, Polishable & Repairable

Once fully cured, the finish can be sanded, buffed, and polished. Repairs blend seamlessly without visible demarcation lines — critical for professional-quality touch-up work.

Fast Dry, Efficient Application

Three coats typically applied in 1–4 hours at 77°F / 25°C. Same gun setups, viscosity targets, and reducer range (T0001–T0005) as Awlcraft 2000. No new equipment required.

Complete System Available at Fiberglass Florida

We stock Awlcat #2 (G3010) converter, T0001–T0005 reducers, 545 Epoxy Primer, Quick Build, and Surface Cleaner T0170 — everything you need to run the full Awlgrip system.

Why Fiberglass Florida

More Than a Distributor

Fiberglass Florida is a Florida-based marine composites and coatings distributor serving boat builders, repair yards, marinas, and DIY customers across the state and beyond. We carry the complete Awlgrip system — topcoats, primers, converters, reducers, and surface prep — so you can source everything from one supplier.

When you order Awlcraft 3000 from Fiberglass Florida, you're not buying from a warehouse that doesn't know what you're working on. Our team understands marine coatings at a technical level and is available to help with product selection, color matching, primer compatibility, and application troubleshooting — at no extra charge.

We also know the Awlcraft 2000-to-3000 transition well. Not all 2000 colors were carried forward, and several popular colors — including Ice Blue, Light Blue, and Oyster White — were renamed in the 3000 system. Contact us and we'll identify the correct current equivalent or help you find remaining 2000 stock.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Awlcraft 3000?
A two-component, premium acrylic urethane marine topcoat by Awlgrip (AkzoNobel). High-gloss, buffable, and repairable. Uses the AkzoNobel YSC color platform for truer, deeper color than Awlcraft 2000. In stock at Fiberglass Florida in gallon and quart.
How is it different from Awlcraft 2000?
Same base resin, mix ratio, reducers, and spray equipment as 2000. The upgrade is the AkzoNobel YSC toning system — shared with Awlgrip HDT — which produces deeper, truer colors and a wider palette.
My Awlcraft 2000 color isn't in the 3000 line. What do I do?
Not all 2000 colors were carried forward, and several were renamed. Ice Blue, Light Blue, and Oyster White now exist under new names in the 3000 system. Contact Fiberglass Florida — we'll find the correct current equivalent or check availability of remaining 2000 stock.
Can Awlcraft 3000 be used below the waterline?
No — above waterline only. For antifouling and bottom paint, Fiberglass Florida stocks multiple options. Contact us for recommendations based on your vessel type and use.
What is the mix ratio?
2 parts Awlcraft 3000 base to 1 part Awlcat #2 (G3010) Spray Converter by volume. Add up to 33% appropriate reducer (T0001–T0005) to reach 11–15 sec DIN4 viscosity. All components stocked at Fiberglass Florida.
How many coats are needed?
Three coats standard. Light colors, pastels, and some grays may require four or more for full opacity. Three coats are typically applied within 1–4 hours at standard conditions.
Can it be buffed and polished after curing?
Yes. Once fully cured, Awlcraft 3000 can be sanded, buffed, and polished to restore or enhance gloss — and to blend repaired areas seamlessly into surrounding paint.
What primer should I use?
Best results over Awlgrip 545 Epoxy Primer or Quick Build, sanded P320–P400 and cleaned with Surface Cleaner T0170. All Awlgrip primer and prep products available at Fiberglass Florida.
