Gun Roving for Spray-Up & Chopper Gun Applications
Gun Roving is a continuous strand fiberglass reinforcement used in the spray-up (chopping) molding process and is the reinforcement of choice for high-production open mold manufacturing. It is specifically designed to run smoothly through chopper guns, delivering consistent fiber length, excellent resin wet-out, and uniform laminate build.
Also known as continuous strand roving, Gun Roving is comprised of many fine-diameter fiberglass filaments combined into a single roving bundle. During the spray-up process, the continuous roving is fed into a chopper gun where it is chopped into short lengths and deposited into a resin spray pattern directly onto the mold surface. The laminate is then rolled to remove entrapped air before curing.
This process allows for fast, efficient production of large composite parts while maintaining structural integrity and surface quality. Gun Roving is widely used in the manufacturing of boat hulls, RV components, swimming pools, tubs, and other large fiberglass structures.
