SikaBiresin AP014 Fast-Setting Polyester Filler – Formerly Adtech P-14 Marine Repair Putty
Adtech P-14 Ultra Filler — now available as SikaBiresin Ultra Filler — is a professional-grade, two-component polyester filler paste widely used in marine repair, composite fabrication, mold work, and industrial finishing. Mixed at 100:2 (paste to BPO cream hardener) by weight, it delivers a smooth, thixotropic consistency that applies cleanly with a squeegee or putty knife and sets firm within 15–20 minutes at room temperature. P-14 Ultra Filler bonds to fiberglass, SMC, epoxy laminates, Kevlar, aluminum, wood, and most composites with virtually no shrinkage or sink after cure. Shore D hardness of 86 after one hour means it machines, sands, and feathers cleanly without gumming up tools. Accepts lacquer, enamel, polyurethane, epoxy, and gelcoat topcoats with no bleed-out. Available in white and gray. 1-year shelf life in original unopened containers.
Formerly Adtech P-14 Ultra Filler (Axson Technologies). Same trusted formula, now part of the Sika Advanced Resins product line.
Adtech P-14 Ultra Filler / SikaBiresin Ultra Filler — Technical Product Description
Formerly sold as Adtech P-14 by Axson Technologies, this product is now part of the Sika Advanced Resins family. The formula remains unchanged. If you have used Adtech P-14 Ultra Filler in the past, you can order SikaBiresin Ultra Filler with full confidence in identical performance.
What Is P-14 Ultra Filler?
P-14 Ultra Filler is a two-component, BPO-catalyzed polyester filler and fairing compound designed for professional composite repair, mold fabrication, pattern making, production finishing, and marine fiberglass applications. It produces a smooth, creamy, thixotropic paste that spreads easily, holds its shape on vertical surfaces, and cures to a hard, machinable solid with no detectable shrinkage or sink.
Key Performance Properties
- Mix ratio: 100 parts paste to 2 parts BPO cream hardener, by weight or volume
- Work life @ 77°F: 5 ± 1 minutes
- Sand/file ready: 15–20 minutes at room temperature
- Shore D hardness after 1 hour: 86
- Water absorption (24-hr immersion): 0.16%
- Specific gravity: 1.58 g/cc
- Heat resistance: up to 350°F / 177°C
- Shelf life: 1 year in original unopened containers; store at 40°F–80°F
Adhesive Pull Strength (ASTM D-4541)
- Polyester filler substrate: 1,717 psi (12 MPa)
- Mahogany: 1,459 psi (10 MPa)
- Epoxy glass laminate: 753 psi (5 MPa)
- Aluminum: 2,940 psi (20 MPa)
Compatible Substrates
P-14 bonds effectively to fiberglass, SMC, RIM, BMC, graphite/carbon fiber, Kevlar composites, aluminum, steel, gray iron, copper, wood, plaster, urethane, and most patterns and models.
Topcoat Compatibility
Once cured and sanded, P-14 Ultra Filler accepts virtually all finishing systems without special surface preparation, including lacquer, enamel, polyurethane, epoxy, and gelcoat. It produces no bleed-out under decorative films or coatings.
Typical Applications
- Marine fiberglass repair and blister repair
- FRP and composite part repair
- Honeycomb panel edge filling
- Mold repair and modification (vacuum molds, urethane molds)
- Pattern and core box repair
- Void, porosity, and pinhole filling
- Cloth impression filling in pre-preg and composite panels
- Bonding loose details and inserts
- RIM/SMC/BMC surface filling
- Temporary fixtures and holding jigs
Application Instructions
- Clean the repair area thoroughly. Remove all wax, oil, paint, and surface contaminants. Allow to dry completely — damp surfaces reduce adhesion.
- Sand or abrade the area to create a bonding profile.
- Stir the paste thoroughly with a spatula before dispensing.
- Place paste and cream hardener on a clean, disposable mixing surface. Mix 100 parts paste to 2 parts BPO hardener. A golf ball-size amount of paste mixed with a 2-inch strip of hardener is a practical field guide.
- Caution: Using too much hardener will cause gumminess in the cured filler. Follow the 100:2 ratio.
- Apply with a squeegee, spatula, or putty knife. Work the material into the repair area and avoid trapping air.
- After 15–20 minutes, sand, file, or scrape to final contour. Feather edges as needed.
- Apply primer and topcoat per your finishing system requirements.
Chemical Resistance
Excellent (no attack): Benzene, gasoline, mineral spirits, methanol, distilled water. Good (slight attack): Acetic acid (5%), citric acid, hydrochloric acid (10%). Not recommended: Acetone, nitric acid (10%), sulfuric acid (10%), sodium hydroxide (5%).
Availability and Colors
Available in white resin. BPO cream hardener available in white, red, and black — hardener color serves as a mixing indicator and can influence final fill color.
