FFT4500 High Definition™ Orange Tooling Gel Coat

FFT4500 Tooling Gel Coat from HK Research is formulated to deliver the durability, gloss, and chemical resistance required for high-performance molds. As an isophthalic tooling gel coat, it produces a hard, mirror-like surface finish that sets the standard in polyester tooling applications.

Key Features:

  • High Gloss & Durability – Develops a hard, chemical-resistant surface within 24–48 hours of lamination and removal from the master.
  • Fast Property Development – Achieves Barcol hardness of 40+ units, allowing molds to be sanded in as little as 45–60 minutes at 77°F with 2% MEKP.
  • Excellent Handling – Viscosity range of 9,000–14,000 cps ensures easy application with a smooth, even film build.
  • Consistency & Reliability – Controlled thixotropy (5.0–6.5 index) prevents sagging while maintaining sprayability.

Technical Specifications:

  • HAP (Styrene) Content: 44%
  • Weight per Gallon (77°F): 8.98 lbs
  • Specific Gravity: 1.08
  • Gel Time (100g @ 77°F, 2% MEKP): 18–22 minutes
  • Film Gel Time: 25–35 minutes
  • Cure to Sand Time: 45–60 minutes
