Awlgrip 545 Epoxy Primer – D1001 Grey
Awlgrip 545 Epoxy Primer D1001 Grey is a multi-purpose, corrosion-resistant marine epoxy primer used to seal surfacing primers, fairing compounds, and prepared substrates before applying polyurethane topcoats.
What Is Awlgrip 545 Epoxy Primer?
545 Epoxy Primer is a two-component epoxy undercoat primer designed to:
- Seal porous fairing compounds and surfacing primers
- Provide corrosion resistance on aluminum and steel
- Create uniform substrate absorption before topcoat
- Improve long-term adhesion of Awlgrip and Awlcraft finishes
- Stabilize substrate color for consistent topcoat appearance
The D1001 Grey base is ideal for darker topcoats and improves sanding visibility.

Pro Tip
For best results, treat 545 as your final sealing primer — not a build primer. If you still see imperfections, go back to fairing or high build before applying 545.
